Sandy, I cannot identify a "surprise" as being the biggest :) However, I can tell you what I liked best: sangria, the relaxed state of the people that I noticed to be super friendly to each other, the bicycle lanes on a lot of streets in Barcelona and the cozy elegance of this city, the magic fountain on Montjuic. We only visited Barcelona, Calella and Lloret de Mar, so I cannot say that I have substantial knowledge about Spain. Can't wait to come back and visit some more. :)
