Circa Survive is an experimental rock band consisting of former Saosin vocalist Anthony Green and members of the now-defunct This Day Forward, including guitarists Brendan Ekstrom and Colin Frangicetto. Compared to the sound of Green's former group, the music of Circa Survive taps a different musical influence for Green, who cites Paul Simon, dredg, and Björk among later artists who have more influence on his vocal stylings in Circa Survive which are comparatively less aggressive, as well as his songwriting. |

Moneen is a band from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Formed in 1999 after the dissolution of another band named Perfectly Normal, the original members included Kenny Bridges (vocals and guitar), Chris "Hippy" Hughes (vocals, guitar), Peter Krpan (drums) and Mark Bowser (bass). In 2001, Bowser was replaced by the enigmatic "Nu Chris", who was subsequently replaced by Erik Hughes. Moneen put out their first releases on Smallman Records, 1999's Smaller Chairs for the Early 1900's EP and 2001's The Theory of Harmonial Value. In 2002, the band signed on to Vagrant Records, maintaining Smallman Records as their Canadian distributor. The Trever Keith-produced Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now? was released in July 2003, and was the band's introduction to most American listeners, chock-full of their trademarks: uncommon jazz extensions, frequent meter changes, absurdly long song titles, etc. The band's follow-up, The Red Tree, arrived in April 2006, and features more compact compositions than the band's previous releases. Moneen is currently on tour to support this album. |

Drive By - Standing alone, the name evokes a knee-jerk reaction of brutal imagery, shorthand for a popular automotive method used by organized crime families and youth gangs to dispatch their rivals. Get past that initial response however, and the term takes a different meaning, one that implies casualness toward life and the things it has to offer. Less bloody perhaps, but just as troubling. It was the latter implication that inspired Todd Price to shake off his past and come out rocking. And Drive By's debut on Riot Squad, I Hate Every Day Without You, Kid, is a testament to kicking your own ass to do something in this world while your clock is still running. |
