Metropolis

São Paulo is the largest city of both Brazil and South America, and has a population of over 11 million people.  It has the largest number of Japanese outside Japan (more than 1 million), as well as the largest number of Lebanese outside Lebanon. São Paulo also hosts a huge Italian colony - and guess where's the largest gay parade in the world? Everything is this city seems to be the largest, the hugest, the best, the more expensive. Yes, it's the richest city in this country, has the highest buildings, whe worst traffic jams, the most terrible criminality levels and air pollution. And also the best museums, shoppings, restaurants, universities, libraries, concert halls. Not my favorite city - but perfect for a photo safari when I have some free time between two business meetings.

Thanks, CAIT! São Paulo is an invitation to look up, up, always up. If I weren't that shy I would lay down on the floor to take better pics...

Thanks, Merci, Shukria (is that right, Setu?), Dank, Grazie, Multsumesc! São Paulo might look a ghost city in these pics, but it's not that empty. I did my best to show only the buildings, with no human trace (in spite of those 11 million people buzzing around.

O que está acontecendo com Sao Paulo...????
Eduardo.affonso said at 6:15 p.m. on Jan 23, 2007:
Como assim? A não ser pelo fato de que o metrô desabou, não creio que tenha acontecido nada extraordinário ultimamente (não, minhas viagens para lá não contam como fatos extraordinários).
Liliana said at 6:46 p.m. on Jan 23, 2007:
Minha messagem tinha duplo sentido... Hablaba de algo personal... en " as nao-extraordinárias-viagens " tyas (tuyos, para hacer concordancia con el español...).

One day I hope to make it to Sao Paolo to see these for myself. In the meantime, thanks for the virtual tour! I remember some of these images from your Phlog and grouped together like this gives them a whole new life.
Eduardo.affonso said at 5:34 p.m. on Jan 24, 2007:
TANYA: Hope to join you for a real city tour in a near future. Some of these pics are similar to those posted on Phlog, but they are pretty new - where taken a few weeks ago.

LILIANA: Não, não há nada de especial acontecendo com São Paulo, nem em São Paulo. Apenas alguns trabalhos e escalas em viagens. Oxalá houvesse motivos extraordinários!
