Skansen Aquarium, Stockholm, Sweden

Skansen Aquarium is a small aquarium inside Skanse Zoo at Djurgården Stockholm, Sweden. Djurgården (=animal house) is maybe the oldest zoo in the world.

 

 

It was held as a playground / hunting ground / excercize island for the Swedish Royal Family from the 13th century.  Wolfs, bears, moose , deer and that kind of wild animal at that time lived on the island.

 

 

It was founden as a modern zoo, open air museum and recreation area 11 oktober 1891. Nowaday its the main recreation island park for Stockholm inhabitants and tourists.
