Black Dog

Some new pictures of Tessie, taken with my new Canon S2 IS. She seems to be more comfortable with this camera than with my others. Normally she gets up and tries to sniff the lens as soon as I take out my 20D.

 

Although I like black and white for portraits and she is a black dog, I prefer the color ones that highlight her brown eyes.

 

While the title is a reference to the Led Zeppelin song by the same name, the song itself has nothing to do with a black dog.

Great job - the first one is my favourit. Taking pictures of a dog, and a black one..... is quiet challenging.

Tessie is beautiful...I do agree about the color photos highlighting the brown eyes...I have a black lab retriever mix and I do enjoy Bw but sometimes her eyes don't stand out as much as it does in color. Wonderful Photos !

Please tell me what you do to keep her still when you take pics of her. The first photo is really good, I can almost feel her breath.

I am able to get very good close-ups using my Canon S2. It has a 12x zoom and also a swivel screen. For the top photo, I had the camera resting on the floor and I just zoomed in to get the crop that I wanted. The lens on the S2 is very crisp, so you could see lots of detail. I have prints of the top 2 photos over my screen in the office, so she's always looking at me.
