Schiermonnikoog, The Netherlands

Schiermonnikoog is an island in front of the Dutch coast. The beautiful little island is called 'Schier' by the Dutch people.

 

The "Wadden islands" are at the north of The Netherlands and are a series of small islands in a row in front of the coast. Schiermonnikoog is the smallest inhabited Wadden Island. It is only 16 kilometres long, 4 kilometres wide and it has one village which is also called Schiermonnikoog.

Excellent tabblo. Nicely designed with a "clean" look that emphasizes the photos. The photos show a good eye for the beauty that we often miss or don't fully appreciate. *** *** I'm always amazed by bicycles from the Netherlands as compared to the U.S. Obviously they are much more practical and intended for every day use by every day people. American consumer bikes are either simulations of TdF bikes or stylish copies of old Schwinn designs. You can ride an American market oriented bike in the rain, in fact mountain bikes are often sold through images of mud covered riders, but a full break down and cleaning is often necessary or the bike will be quickly damaged. Yet looking at the bike in the last image, both the rider and the components are protected from the dirt and grit thrown up by riding on wet roads.

Luv Schiermonnikoog. Especially in winter, walking on the beach or cycling in the cold, crisp wind. Not too many tourists. Awesome.

I realy like the 2 lighthouses...so similair in design but the bright red is such a contrast to the plain one. Nice collection AKE and SIMONE.
