Until Uru Ki Cake

We're big on making cakes in our family.  It's a common activity for us to mark special occasions.

My son was sad that a favorite online game server was going to be shut off for good, so we made a cake.  It's in the shape of a feature of the game, a control doodad called a Ki.

Cake making is always a bubbly good time, what with all the candy and frosting around.  Everyone participates in their own style.  What better way to spend Super Bowl Sunday?

The reference artwork.  This is what we were aiming for.

Bye, Until Uru...

It's been fun...

This is very cool. But I think the best part of this - is the memories the kids will have in 5 and 10 years - of the time they spent with family. Very AWESOME tradition. By the way - the cake came out good too :)

Kids these days with their weird games. What the heck is that thing? Back in my day all I had was pound cake, and I had to imagine that it was shaped like anything interesting. Plus, since we didn't have flour because of the war (that'd be the Gulf War), the cake was made out of sand.

I'm sure you can relate.

That's some high fidelity representation of a game logo! A hairnet might be a good idea next go-round tho? :)

What a great idea to make the cake to remember and celebrate Uru. So wonderful that there were many hands helping. Like Cruising said - there's going to be lots of good memories. My Ma made a couple of special shaped cakes when I was little, and I STILL remember them today... One was a Bugs Bunny, and one was a Tweety Bird.
