All the above images were taken with a fairly low resolution camera a Canon 200SD with just 3.2 Mpx. At night with low lighting, I got very grainy pictures, and as I needed to add a little brightness, they were increasingly grainy. So as a final procedure I ran them through Neat Image which does a calculation and allows you to smooth the images. It's useful in all instances where you have too much visible grain, and using it on these low res images it produced a kind of smooth blurry effect which I liked.
