A Visit to the Chocolate Bar

The Chocolate Bar at Julien (in the Langham Hotel) is unbelievable. A room full of chocolate -- 130 different chocolate concoctions today -- including a chocolate fountain (a big hit with my little friend Nell, above), chocolate crepes (right), all kinds of truffles, cookies, mousse, several different creme brulees, a killer dark chocolate-orange panacotta, and more and more and more.

Or friend Roz treated us to this decadent, delicious delight (thanks again, Roz!) and we had a wonderful time! I may not sleep tonight from all the caffeine and sugar, and I'm sure I won't eat again until Thursday, but it was worth it to spend this this wonderful time with friends.

At left: Marshmallows that wallowed in the chocolate fountain. Above, some crazy-good chocorgasmic concoction (I don't even remember what it was, but it was great.

Above the treats: demure Lola.

Below left: Craig. That's not a real sandwich; it has dark chocolate and some other sweet goo in it.

Below right: Deanna.

Towards the end (in other words, after two plates of treats - did I mention this gig is all-you-can-eat?) we started to get jittery so we tried to eat more fruit and sample the less-chocolatey items (above). It didn't really help :-)

My absolute favorite thing there was the five-spice dark chocolate creme brulee (below) -- and this is how I left it. It was divine, sublime, and all mine, and yet I couldn't eat another bite!

you have really pretty head shots of the little girl.

It's strange, many of these shots (esp. the portraits) look a lot softer here than on my desktop. Has anyone noticed that before? Flickr seems to do some sharpening on upload, maybe Tabblo does some softening? :-)

Yes, I agree! Love the first picture too! :)

Remember our conversation long ago about crime novels? Well, observing how many pictures you (and the girls) took to get this BEAUTIFUL tabblo, it reminds me of that. These totally capture the day-- except for you and Roz!

There are more good ones, D, but in this context they were redundant (tabblo is good for learning to edit!)... and this has none of the ones taken by the girls. I'm putting everything on CD for you today!

How much fun! Love the first shot (girl meets chocolate fountain!), and the one with the strawberries and choc marshmallows. Must go and visit!

I like these. Looks like you had a fun time. I think in cases like this Tabblo should allow us Scratch & Taste capabilities.

Fortunately (or some would say unfortunately) I have developed an aversion towards large amounts of chocolate as I get older. When I see those chocolate events like this, I actually cringe. I, like anyone, appreciate a good chocolate every now and again, but for some reason unknown to me, I can't do "double chocolate" anything. I get little pleasure from chocolate cake and especially chocolate ice cream, unless it's balanced with something else. I know, it must be a freak. Anyway, nice photos Bonnie. The chocolate with the strawberries... I like that! And the little girl ready to give us a chocolate kiss is awesome!
