The Chocolate Bar at Julien (in the Langham Hotel) is unbelievable. A room full of chocolate -- 130 different chocolate concoctions today -- including a chocolate fountain (a big hit with my little friend Nell, above), chocolate crepes (right), all kinds of truffles, cookies, mousse, several different creme brulees, a killer dark chocolate-orange panacotta, and more and more and more.
Or friend Roz treated us to this decadent, delicious delight (thanks again, Roz!) and we had a wonderful time! I may not sleep tonight from all the caffeine and sugar, and I'm sure I won't eat again until Thursday, but it was worth it to spend this this wonderful time with friends. |

At left: Marshmallows that wallowed in the chocolate fountain. Above, some crazy-good chocorgasmic concoction (I don't even remember what it was, but it was great.
Above the treats: demure Lola.
Below left: Craig. That's not a real sandwich; it has dark chocolate and some other sweet goo in it.
Below right: Deanna.

Towards the end (in other words, after two plates of treats - did I mention this gig is all-you-can-eat?) we started to get jittery so we tried to eat more fruit and sample the less-chocolatey items (above). It didn't really help :-)

My absolute favorite thing there was the five-spice dark chocolate creme brulee (below) -- and this is how I left it. It was divine, sublime, and all mine, and yet I couldn't eat another bite! |
