OK. I know that it looks like they are glued on, but they are real Bumble Bees. Every spring, middle to late Feb. The bees start to drill in my pergola, so there is hundreds of them flying around. I put my camera on "Manual" set shutter on 1/760 and F/8. The focus I set about 2 feet. The flash on fill and then I stand by the pergola with all these bees buzzing around me. The rest is to capture every time a bee is kinda "hovering", 45 minutes later you go in with 250 shots, trow 246 in the trash basket and viola you have 4 pictures that are in focus. :-)

By the way, they are standard sized bees.LOL!!

never tried to get these guys, they burrow into my deck too. but I'm too chicken to be standing around waiting for them to move into my camera range! these are fabulous! btw, how do you get the framed with overlap in your tabblo? did I miss that lesson somewhere?
Floridamolle said at 4:20 p.m. on Mar 14, 2007:
Thank you for all of your nice comments. The layout you just chose one that are with white frames, you can see that in the "Styles Box". Chose "small grid" and "manual" in Layout in the floating box to the left and that is it!!! Courtesy Tammy. LOL!! And Tammy I generally take 100-250 pics every day and use maybe 15-20, I try to not use unsharp pics, I hate that
Ciudi said at 5:18 p.m. on Mar 14, 2007:

It's hard to believe that this bee is not a trick (I would never use the word "fraud", unless it's something like the old soviets trying to remove their enemies from the official photos). I see the bee is standard size - but then where did you find such small trees?? (Just kidding, my friend - your tabblo is great - wish I had your technique!).
Nakedeast said at 6:01 p.m. on Mar 15, 2007:
great work!!
JoanW said at 8:19 p.m. on Mar 15, 2007:
My goodness, you were brave and patient to stand out on the deck with all those bees buzzing around you, and waiting for just the right shots. I can well believe that you would need to take 250 shots to get 4 or 5 decent ones. 10 our od 10 for your patience alone! Well done.
Anjad said at 4:06 a.m. on Mar 16, 2007:
Thanks for the tutorial! As Eduardo says... it's hard to believe that it's not a trick. Super shots!
