A Touch of Irish !

We enjoyed a wonderful tour of Ireland in 2004, and because it is St. Patrick's Day on March 17th, I thought it would be a good time to create a Tabblo of our trip.  We started in Shannon, and oone of our first visits was to Bunratty Castle, which you will see below and following that we toured the Ring of Kerry, where we saw the majestic cliffs at  Moher.  We countinued along the cost and visisted Waterford where we saw the glass and crystal factory, and the horseracing  breeding farm, before continuing on to Dublin. We also visited Carrick-upon-Shannon and had a short river cruise here.  We we so lucky to have wonderful weather and were able to see the countryside at it's best and the lovely seaside towns and villages were a treat for the eyes.

This was one stop where we visited  Drumcliff and saw the churchyard where Keats was buried.  The mountain in the background is Benbulben.  The swans are the decorative handle of the church door.

This part of our tour covered the Ring of Kerry and the Cliffs of Moher.  The lovely countryside and  steep cliffs were perfect for taking photographs.  Our tour guide told us that usually visitors to the Cliffs of Moher were disappointed by misty rain and foggy views, but fortunate shone upon us that day, and we were blessed with sunshine.

Our next visit was to the town of Kilarney where we enjoyed some free time to explore the town and time for a morning coffee.

On leaviing Killarney we travelled through the lovely area of the Lakes of Killarney to see this beautiful scenery.

Now it's time to visit the colourful houses of Sneem, an attractive little village where we stopped for an ice-cream or coffe break and a chance to walk around and enjoy the bright colours.

While crossing from east to west, to stopped at this nice little town called Carrick-upon-Shannon, where we had a lovely mid morning cruise wihile being served coffe and pastries.

This is great, Joan! You have done a marvellous job with your framing, especially the cart wheels. I love the colours and the beaches are outstanding. The colourful houses are truly amazing, a treat for the eyes although I don't think I'd like to live in the shocking pink one! Great tour - thank you!

Hi! Joan,
You have done a fine job of documenting Ireland in a very true to life fashion. Indeed you did get the best weather for your visit. Capturing the diversity of our summer weather from bright overcast to the splendour of blue skies on the west coast. What I especially like is those little detailed shots of old farm machinery, door details and off the beaten track subtleties that tell another story about Ireland. You have mixed them up well and told your story in a very enjoyable way.

My Favourite scene: 'Benbulben at Drumcliffe'

...................May the road rise up to meet you.
..................May the wind be always at your back.
................May the sun shine warm upon your face;
.....the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
..............may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

JOAN this is so sweet, so beautiful, so well done. i just love your Tabblos. My mom is Scotch/Irish and your pictures are all of the places she described to us growing up. I am surprised by the brightly painted houses. I love the spot of color in all of your shots with the wonderful Irish green as a backdrop. Great choice of old and new to tell your story.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Joan! These pictures are great. I especially like the one of Benbulben at Drumcliffe. It looks so peaceful. The next time I go to Ireland I will take a tour as you did. I find it is the best way to see everything and they usally give a lot of information on those tours too. Maybe by then I will have a good camera and capture the beauty of Ireland, as you did.

Beautiful tabblo Joan. A thoroughly enjoyable photo tour of Ireland it was. Love the way you take us from one place to another through your captions and picturesque shots. The offbeat pictures of the objects around you tell a different story altogether from the beauty that's all around. Something i really liked were your little images like of the man sitting under the mushroom etc. It really add to the enjoyment of the tabblo. The coloured buildings were rather eye catching too. After seeing your tabblo, i feel like travelling to Ireland. :o)

Loved this one! There are so many wonderful pictures in here - the cliffs, the brightly colored houses... Lovely! But that last picture is my favorite. I just want to get in that boat and row some where. I've got to get to Ireland.
