Jon and Doug long ago left college, but they still get together every year to soak up March Madness. This year, it was Jon's turn to travel across the country. The visit was marked by high drama (an overworked Doug, tense final days in buying a house, a car breakdown), but getting tickets for three games in San Jose probably made up for the disappointments.

As always, Calvin was thrilled to spend time with Uncle Jon. And baby Finn began to get to know a favorite family friend.

March 2007

With Doug preoccupied with work, it was up to Darienne and Calvin to amuse Jon. We did our best, bringing him along to a breakfast playdate and to Shoreline Park. 

While the older boys were at the games in San Jose, the younger ones hung out at home. Finn settled comfortably into his Daddy's vacated TV chair; Calvin, however, was distraught to wake up from a nap and find the men had left him behind.

It wasn't easy saying goodbye at the end of the weekend. But Calvin seems comforted knowing he'll be the one who gets to fly 3,000 miles for a visit -- for Jon and Jenn's May wedding. See you soon!
