Laos' Mystical Plain of Jars
COMMENTS

The Plain of Jars, Phonsavan (Laos). Historians are still completely baffled as to where the jars come from, who built them, or why. Archaeologists believe that they may have been used as funeral urns. The locals say that the jars were used in making wine to celebrate a great military victory 1,500 years ago.

How interesting! What are the jars made of? They look like stone. Did the bomb craters unearth them, or disturb them greatly? Great tabblo, as always, Michele.

Thanks for the compliments. The bombs did not destroy them nor unearth. The place was just heavily bombed.

The ancients give us art and America give us destruction. The jars are fascinating, like the size and texture.

that sign makes me so sad. I know this is beautiful in B&W, but, would love to see the green in these. So fine, Michele. Love your new pic, too!
