Well I have a thought even worse...LOL.... Someone from tabblo just e-mailed me and told me that he knew one thing... this dog was going to produce a pile of POOP. Of course another word was used...LOL. He said I better get a shovel for it. Oh man... I never thought of that. The nightmare may just be begining. hahahaha.... We flat wore him out today trying to take pictures of him. He has made that back porch into a disaster zone ... tearing up everything..LOL

Well he found an old bone that Ms. Applebee had... I guess ... and has been chewing on that. We have about 15 toys already in the back yard and several of Ryan's old work shirts and towels for wrestling with him, that we had put in his box the first night we had him. But I have already lost one silver bracelet... that I'm sure was a result of him. He wants to bite them sooo bad. Gotta love him though... can't help it.

Desmond... wish you were here to wear him down..LOL

Thanks Oscar ... I'm afraid I have a baby horse here... instead of a dog.. hahaha...

Could be half dane and half something else... but he is cute =)
Siagian said at 10:47 p.m. on Mar 31, 2007:
i love dogs too...this puppy is gonna grow BIG! =)
Love2laugh said at 11:04 p.m. on Mar 31, 2007:
TAMMY - I couldn't hold the parrot because of my jewelry and Jack Black is just mesmorized with them too. He has gotten his teeth hooked in them a couple times. :)

NOE - The more I look I see the Great Dane face and he has long legs already. But his ears look smaller then some of the PUPPY DANE pics. So he may not be full Dane ... because those dogs are expensive and why would someone throw him out of a car window while driving if they had an expensive dog ???

WOODY - I'm afraid you are sooo right. I've never had a dog any bigger then a doberman.. and she was a small Doberman ... so this is going to be a huge challenge. I can already see that. My son loves him already though ... so sure can't get rid of him. :)

No matter what he, is still just adorable.
Love2laugh said at 8:46 a.m. on Apr 1, 2007:
GEOFF - I think so too .... but have no idea what breed he really is .... or what mixture. He looks so great dane in the face, except his ears are a tad smaller then the one's I see in these puppy pictures from on line. Guess I just have to wait and see.

MARGARET - we think too that he's a cutie.
Penn2383 said at 9:49 a.m. on Apr 1, 2007:
I would agree with those who have told you he is a great dane. In all the years I have worked in the animal medical field and I have seen many great dane puppys and he looks just like them. I can see a small difference from the pics of the danes and your puppy, his ears are smaller. He could have something else in there maybe american staffordshire terrier

You have a great dog. Love him and spoil him after all that happened to him he deserves that.
Love2laugh said at 9:56 a.m. on Apr 1, 2007:
Penn - thank you sooooooooooooo much for your comment. I hoped someone that had been around dogs a lot might help us figure this out. I realize that when he grows into his size ... if he is a great dane 0r great dane mix ... we will figure it out. We wanted to have an idea what we are looking at here though. When we see the great dane puppy pictures on line, we say... "THAT'S JACK". I told my son last night the main difference I saw too was the ears are smaller. But boy he has the face of those great dane pups. He has long legs already and is the clumsiest thing you ever saw. We can wear him out real fast and he just falls over. I hope he will be a good dog. I don't know much about that breed at all, if that's what he is.

Thanks so much for your insight !!! I needed that.

LOL!!! I think it's a so called Giant Great Dane, and than I do not think we are talking a lot of poop, we are talking TRUCKLOADS!!!!! LOL!!! I also think that you want have time to take any pictures at the store any more either, as you will have to drag home tons of doggie chow to keep the pooing going. GOOD LUCK!!!
Love2laugh said at 3:59 p.m. on Apr 1, 2007:
UMAIR - I completely got lucky on the lighting on that first picture. (grin) The dog is so fast, and seldom stands still. I happened to get him still for a moment... and snapped it. Thanks for the compliment - after seeing what you do ... I know mine is very average. :))

ANDERS - I know I am in for a serious MESS in that back yard. The worst thing is we don't have a huge back yard either. Poor baby... is not going to have much running room if he is a great dane. I imagine I will still have time to shop and take pictures, Dear Anders... hahahaha...!! The dog is my son's... LOL.. and I am going to keep reminding him of that.. !!! :))

GryphonHeart said at 4:35 a.m. on Apr 4, 2007:
Did you all managed to get a name for this cutie?? I'm just eager to know... Lol. I just read all the conversation on the naming of him. Now that you roughly know what breed he is too. Lol.. with all the excitement and confusion in the beginning, now the light has surface. ;P
Love2laugh said at 6:00 a.m. on Apr 4, 2007:
Simon ... I may surprise you ... (grin) Yes we did name this horse... (I MEAN PUPPY) My son named him JACK BLACK !!! Apparently the gal that begged my son to keep him since she could not keep pets at her apartment, had started calling him Jack after she rescued him. So he wanted to keep the name JACK with him. Then he loves Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) so he was going to do it for that reason. He also likes Jack Black and a silly movie he did called NACHO LIBRE. So being that the dog is black ... looks like JACK BLACK is the name. Crazy.. huh? I think many of the other names people gave us for suggestions would have suited him better. I had to let my son ultimately name him though since it is going to be his dog. :))
GryphonHeart said at 12:01 p.m. on Apr 4, 2007:
Well done. That's great, as long as the cutie has a name. I was thinking of Dan... donno why, but he kind of looks like a Dan too... Lol, true ultimately your son will name him, which he did. ;P Just pray that Jack will not be as big as Dane is meant to be... lol. Good luck on that.
Love2laugh said at 6:15 p.m. on Apr 4, 2007:
Dan would be cute too, Simon. Looks like he is stuck with Jack though.. hahaha... I do hope he won't be as big as pics I've seen of Great Danes ... but he's ours... so will love him no matter what size he gets to be.. (I guess).. hahaha..
DaneLover said at 10:02 p.m. on Apr 11, 2007:
Hi. I noticed it seems you've got yourself a Great Dane Puppy! I've grown up with Danes and have two right now, one is 8 weeks old. They are absolutley amazing. And if you feed them premium food (they need something w/ 23% protien) they're poo won't be that big of a problem. OH! I was looking and your pups feet and I really don't think he's full Dane. He's got ALOT smaller feet than a dane puppy and his ears are doin' a pitt bull thing. I don't think he's going to get as big as a Dane at all. You'll know more in about 6 months. lol. If by 6 months he's not 65 pounds, you don't have yourself a dane. :) I've done lots and lots of research on this breed so if you have any questions you can email me (danelady05@yahoo.com)
Love2laugh said at 10:37 p.m. on Apr 11, 2007:
THANK YOU SO MUCH for that information. I have just e-mailed you with some new pics we took last night of him. Thought maybe you would take a look at the latest for me again. (grin) Thanks for looking at this for me. I really appreciate the info.

This is a great use of Tabblo and the community. Bravo to all.

By the way cute puppy. There is a Dogs group here @ Tabblo. You could add this Tabblo to that group if you'd like.
Love2laugh said at 10:58 p.m. on Apr 13, 2007:
Thanks for the suggestion, Zorro. I may check out that group and add him. I have some new pics I took of him this week that turned out a bit better. .... and might make a new one with those pics of him. :) He's a cute puppy .... but we have our work cut out in training him to sit and stay and all that ... because as large as we are being told he could get ... if he's not trained... LOL... it will be unbearable.
Perryandtina83 said at 12:57 a.m. on Apr 14, 2007:
you'll have to show us some up to date photos, i wonder how big he is now? LOL
Love2laugh said at 1:03 p.m. on Apr 14, 2007:
We took some more pictures on 4/10 of him. We rescued him on 3/8. I'll put a tabblo together with a few mixtures maybe of 3/8 and 4/10 to compare. :)

HI i used to own great danes so i know a little bit about them. i would say your dog may be black lab
and american stafordshire mix. i ll tell you why, he has the short staff ears and stocky legs. wide jaws.
also the tail is short and curls up like a staff. great dane mixes in general, sport tall elongated bodies, long slender legs, whiplike tails and drooping muzzle. danes arent chewers and i bet this dog chewed a thing or two to bits. very common in staff and lab breeds. anyways like i said i have owned great danes in the past and i must say of all the dogs i have owned,i like the dane the best.
very loyal, smart, eager to please and protective. here is a myth about the dane ill bust, a full grown male great dane eats no more than an german shepard.just because they are large dosnt mean their
stomachs are. you have a nice looking dog there, take care of him good because he will with out a doubt love you.
Love2laugh said at 9:54 p.m. on May 16, 2008:
Raveneye - You are right that he is black lab mix of some sort. When I took him in to get him neutered, the Vet said he was a black lab mix. He has a face now a year older that looks like a Weimer very much, but he has those short ears and Weimers have long one's. So not sure, but he has a lean body like a Weimer too, and not as stocky as a Lab. He's adorable though. He loves us and loves attention. We love him dearly. Thanks for the info !!! Oh.. and you are right on the CHEW EVERYTHING IN SIGHT !!
