| A Day With Grandma |

|
My grandma will be 88 years old in June. I've never gone more than a couple of weeks without visiting her my whole life. Because of this, my boys have spent just as much time with her as well. I am very thankful for this. Technically, my grandma should not be alive. She survived a major brain aneurysm and a craniotomy just last year. The doctors said she would not survive and if she did, she would not walk or talk again. . They don't know my grandma. . She lives for her grandsons. They give her a reason to keep on going. In turn, my boys are learning compassion and patience. Whenever they see an elderly person in need, they are the first to offer help. Every time we visit my grandma, she asks them to assist her on her daily walk and they gladly accept. She'll be leaving this week to go stay with her son for a couple of months and my boys are worried that she won't get the care that they can give her. How many 7 yr. old and 10 yr. old kids worry about something like that? When I reminded them that she would only be in Palm Springs, just a short one hour drive away, they perked right up. "Momma! We can take her on a walk and go swimming when we visit her!", my 7 yr. old said. . Ah, yes. Life is good.
