Photoshop Tutorial "Skin Smoothing"

This is a tutorial that you can use to smooth the skin on portraits, aside from smoothing it also adds a slight blur. I use this technique a lot and thought that it would be nice to share it with everyone and also I would like to see different results that people get with some of their own photos. If you do this tutorial please post your results Tabblo in the Photoshop Group.

Thanks, HunterProductions

Choose your image.

Duplicate the background layer

Try different settings in the following step, you can get some pretty amazing results with this setting.

Just remember that you should be able to make out the outline of the image so dont add too much median noise.

I most usually use between 10-20 and I generally get pretty good results but try your own settings and make it yours and see what you get.

Add median noise

Adjust the radius to 20, or use your own setting.

Add a Layer Mask and pick Reveal all.

Right after you add the mask apply the image to the mask

In the apply image dialog box pick the background layer and blending to normal and hit ok, The image you see after this step is the final result.

Before

After with median noise at 20.

Also you can adjust the Hue and Saturation of the duplicate layer if you want to enhance the color, Just make sure you select the image and not the mask.

Goodluck and Enjoy.

Wow, thanks for sharing your expertise! You make it look so easy, though I know it's not. But I will give this a try one of these days. :)
