Arrivederci Roma! Part 2 - Euro Impressions (cont'd)

Our second day starts with an early morning visit to the Vatican where we first see the dome of St. Peter's through the window on the great staircase which we ascended to tour the Vatican museum. Here were wonderful tapestries, beautiful painted ceilings, and many lovely sculptures.

Our first stop on our second day was the museum of the Vatican, and from there into the great cathedral of St. Peter. What fantastic works of art we were treated to here

After exiting into St. Peter's Square we joined our bus and took a tour of the Coliseum and the rather unusual pyramid which was built in 12 BC as a funerary monument to Caius Cestius

Finally our last stop of the day was at St. Paul's a lesser known but still very beautiful church which had a lovely courtyard filled with rose bushes.

A very beautiful part of our European tour.

......and from the garden of St. Paul's more beauty!

I particularly liked this shot of St. Peter's because of the clouds forming what looks like rays of light  behind the building.
