About Me

Hello World. I'm John Allan

I live in the middle of the east coast of the US, at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, in Charlotte, North Carolina. It isn't huge, but it's easily in the 'big city' category and it's been growing and growing as long as I've been alive. I grew up outside of this city near South Carolina and always loved Charlotte, though open fields and woods still call to me.

It takes a little longer to get to the beach than to the mountains..

I play piano /keyboard, drums (being my forte) /various percussion, guitar (6 & 12 string) /bass, turntables, and I've a violin, but no skill with it yet. Over the years I've recorded more than 400 songs on over 50 CD's just for the art of it. I do blues, rock /alternative, jazz (fav), techno, but a lot of what I make isn't easily classifiable.

I like to draw and doodle with ink or graphite...

...I've played around with Vector art..

..and 3D/4D.

I wrote my first program in BASIC on an Apple IIc+ quite a while ago. The last PC I purchased pre-made was a 286. I studied computers in college at the chip-level, but I hardly ever use that knowledge nowadays. I code in over 20 languages, I like SQL better than Oracle and I've worked from the mom and pop level up through global. I think in code and when I talk I have to translate it into English before I can speak... ..else loop.

I enjoy the entire range of photography from snapshots to compositions. An image doesn't have to be of 'perfect' quality to tell a story or have value, but I try to further my technical knowledge on a steady basis. I've had images published in a few books, briefly worked with UNCC & SCSU, etc, but it's not my profession and just happens at random.

...and I *love* Tabblo!!

What a cool way to present yourself! And it looks like to me that your are a very creative and artistic person and, at the same time, very rational and logical (because of your programing skills). This is quite an interesting and useful combination! Nice to meet u, John!
