I don't know what the name of this thing is.  I ran into it on Frenchman St. in New Orleans.  It's a big tall cage on wheels, with a door that opens to get access to the innards of it.  It's sort of like an overgrown shopping cart.

There are all sorts of items welded, tied, nailed, and otherwise attached to the frame.  There is a bucket of drumsticks with different tips and textures.  As you walk buy you grab one and whack on whatever noisemaker strikes you.  In the middle is a big drum.  Someone sets a beat that the rest of the people follow.

Frenchman St. has a great nightlife - restaurants, bars, music venues, etc.  And this . . .  thing fits right in.
