Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, April 2007 |
|
On a snowy morning in Calgary on April 3, 2007, Scott & I headed to to the Calgary airport to leave on our honeymoon. To the right is a picture of the plane that Scott took when we were waiting to board. At -10 C, it was definitely the kind of weather that makes you feel immensely satisfied that you're getting the hell out of the country. After about four hours of flying, we were able to see our first glimpses of gorgeous weather. Below is a picture of the Carribean that we flew over, making the snow storm we had faced only hours before a distant memory. |

When you arrive in Punta Cana, the airport itself is a massive building built as though it's only a simple hut. Above is a fan that was probably 15 to 20 feet in diameter that definitely came in handy when we were waiting to catch our flight home. The humidity itself was amazing. As soon as you get off of the plane, you feel as though you are completely saturated. It was such a welcome change after coming from Alberta, where the air is unforgiving and bone-dry. |

The resort we stayed at was beautiful. It was called the Punta Cana Princess Resort, located in Punta Cana, right on the beach. With an open-air lobby, five complexes of rooms, a pool with a swim-up bar, two buffet dining restaurants, five dine-in restaurants, and located right on the beach, we had everything we wanted. The weather was fantastic the entire time we were there. Hot & humid, with a wind when you needed it, it was a fantastic time. |
