Over at Picture This, we're discussing the effectiveness of diagonals within photographic images.
In this series, there are diagonal lines working differently within each shot. Some are more obvious than others. In the shot with 2 ponies, the subjects themselves are at a slanted angle. The shot of the girl holding the pony displays the angle in her arm and the line leads your eye right up to the toy. In the close up shot of the eye, the diagonal in in the line of the nose and the slight angle of the eye. While, in the large portrait of the yellow pony the subject is perfectly verticle but the tilt of the head creates just enough of a diagonal to make the shot less static and more appealing compositionally.
Feel free to comment here, share your own diagonal successes and feel free to join the discussion over at Picture This!! We'd love to hear what you have to say. |
