I read about this in the paper and on the USA news! I didn't realize that Interpol took her! This is awful.

We are hearing a lot about this little girl. I hope she is found soon and that she will be a OK. This happens much too often. It must stop!

I agree that I hope thwy find that girl, but can't understand why a missing girl becomes world news? Is it because she is white and have those big deer eyes, is her family rich? When I go to Wal Mart I see tons of missing, often poor and/or black missing kids pictures, they don't even make it to the local news, I just wonder why?

It's so sad this! I deeply suffer for those parents who lost their children this way!
It's worst than to see them dead! The pain will last for ever and ever!

These highly public cases are a sobering reminder of how easy this can happen. Being a mom, I say a prayer every night that my children will always be kept safe w/me & my husband. This case is heartbreaking - but they ALL are - it is the ultimate unbearable pain. You can visit
http://www.missingkids.com/ this is the National Registery for Missing and Exploited children. Each time I look at it I am saddened and shocked at how many kids are on there. Thanks for the reminder of this important issue Afonso.

This is really sad. Hope she returns home quickly and alright.I agree with Anders comment on why some cases become world news while so many don't.

Interpol took her? Huh? It is indeed sad whenever a child goes missing, but in a way I have to agree with Floridamolle. Does anybody realize how many black children go missing? So many. But it's so common that it's only known in their communiites, which are way too often underprivileged areas and regions of the world. I think the reason why the media gives stories like this international attention is 1) usually upper income families visit foreign lands and when their family goes missing, it just typically becomes big news for a small island or faraway land, and typically those upper income families tend to be white, 2) it is true that people in general are prejudiced to be more interested in cute girls with blond hair, blue eyes, etc. If this weren't true, then billions of dollars in advertising and marketing of products would be wasted. It's true that these are not always the case... recently there was a big national story about a black girl that was missing. But more often than not, something like this just doesn't make news. That's why we need more things like the Amber Alert so ALL kids that go missing IMMEDIATELY get massive coverage.
