A Memorial Day Tribute

This is a tribute to all the U.S. Soldiers who have died in various wars.  I don't want this to become political.

People become very passionate about matters of War and Peace.  War is never a popular option.

During the many wars that Americans have fought, there have always been anti-war sentiment.  Unfortunately this sentiment has been directed against the brave young men who are risking their lives.

Brave young Americans have fought in a war for independence of our nation.  We have fought in a war to keep our nation from being divided.  We have fought in many foreign wars for various reasons.  Some that are considered noble and some not so noble.

However, these men were ordered to fight by our politicians who were led by a consensus of our population when these wars were first started.

Many wars became unpopular after a time because people hate to see our relatives and friends getting killed for a reason they don't understand.

During our lifetimes, soldiers have gone overseas and fought  various "isms" such as fascism, communism, and terrorism.  Many times America was not prepared for such wars and did not have good leadership to convince the public that such wars were necessary.

However, young men who were either drafted or who have volunteered have served under horrible conditions and risked their lives for causes which may only prove to be noble years after they are dead.

These men deserve to be honored for being willing to fight for the protection of their country and for causes which our country asks our young men to risk their lives.

So this Memorial Day, instead of debating whether a war was right or wrong.  Or bashing some politician whom we dislike, let's give our appreciation to our brave men for whom we ask to risk their lives for us.

Thank you Tammy. I served during the Vietnam war and it was very unpopular also. My friends and I were serving our country but were not appreciated by the anti-war people. It is alright to be anti-war, but the soldiers should not suffer for this.
