Plum Island, Massachusetts

Every summer, my husband & I take at least one weekend morning bike ride on Plum Island's Parker River Wildlife Refuge.  It's beautifully empty when the piping plovers are nesting & most of the beaches are closed -- no crowds or traffic.

The Parker River

Starling Migration -- they're actually perched on the ends of this grass!

Crane Beach, Ipswich as seen from the tip of Plum Island

After we've rode out and back, then hiked out to the farthest beach

-- where I sunbathe while Chris fishes --

comes the best part of our date...

lunch at the Plum Island Grille!

That picture of the long green grass is my favorite. It looks so soft.
