home sweet home

Buying  a house was always one of those things that  I imagined married people or old people doing.  But this last month I surprized myself by doing just that, buying a house, although I am neither married nor old.

Finding the perfect one was a challenge, it needed to be structrally sound, in a "safe" part of Tacoma and in need of cosmetic upgrades only.  I wanted it to be a good investment for the future.

In July I will get the keys to this house, rip out the carpet, paint the walls, reconstruct the bathroom and take out a tree (this is just a start).  Then move in.

Let me introduce you to my soon to be new urban castle!!

This is the beautiful maple tree right outside the kitchen window...its a little close to the house.  Actually its so close it is growing around the house, around the foundation and a neighboor told me that it is MOVING the house a little bit every year.  As amazing as it is, its gotta go.

bummer.

The detached garage in the back needs quite a bit of help.  It needs a new roof and a good paint job to be happy but it stands on its own and will be able to house the photo darkroom that I got from Aaron a couple years ago.

This is my new yard, again it needs some TLC but its nothing that a little sweat and a workparty can't handle...

They sent out the welcoming commmittee when I was visiting!
