Locust Grove

Locust Grove Historical Site comprises 145 acres with over 3 miles of trail for hiking.  It was once the home of the famous Samual F. Morse...known for the invention of the code with his name.  Also owned by the : Livingston Family, Montgomery Family, and the Young Family

The Masion

 

In 1851 Morse redesigned the main house, that had been built by the Montogomery Family in 1830. Morse added Roman arches inspired by a trip to Italy. He also added a octagonal Library wing a little more typical of the Hudson River Valley architecture.

The Barn

The Montogomery Family  built the barn in1830's. Farming activities came to an end at Locust Grove around 1900.
