Yurting in Otter River

This is a little photo essay about our camping trip to Otter River State Forest near Gardner, Massachusetts.

On this trip we decided to stay in a Yurt. There are four of these in Otter River, sleeping 4 to 6 people in each. We were staying in Yurt #4.

Here's the view from the outside. An inviting entrance that's also handicap accessible.

And once you're inside, it's a little like a palace. With comfortable beds, windows and even electricity.

It's almost not like camping. We decided to call it Yurting.

There's lots to do at nearby Tully Lake. We rented a canoe from Tully Lake campground. They come complete with life jackets

It was just wonderful, with beautiful views.

We paddled past a beaver's lodge

A view of the river

And of course there was breakfast

Including a US-shaped pancake

And dancing after smores

Overall a great time

This was a great trip, with helpful folks at the state forest and lots of relaxing things nearby.

The kids and I loved Otter River and we'll be back again!
