Standing Out

This was taken in my backyard.

Using Photoshop CS3:

a) I duplicated the background layer

b) Set the blend mode to multiply

c) Masked out the flower - so only the background was darkened. Multiply will reduce exposure by 1-stop.

d) Duplicated the layer

e) Masked the flower only

f) Set the blend mode to color

g) Applied USM to the hole thing.

Excellent work! I appreciate learning the step-by-step process too. We can always learn from others. Your signature reminds me that I need to start signing my photos. Thanks.
