VENUS OVER MOON

THIS IS THE BEST SHOT I COULD MANAGE OF THIS BEAUTIFUL SCENE WITH A TINY POINT AND SHOOT CAMERA. AND WITHOUT A TRIPOD, THE LIGHT OF THE MOON AND VENUS WERE CONSTANTLY BLEEDING AND APPEARING LIKE FIREWORKS SMOKE IN MY PICTURES. I FINALLY SUPPORTED MYSELF ON THE OPEN WINDOW LEDGE OF OUR CAR AND TOOK THIS PICTURE.

The Date was I8th June, 2007

TWO - FER - TUESDAY

I saw this - it was around the beginning of May. I was out for an evening stroll in Toronto and even in the city the scene was stunning. A few days later I was talking to my father (he's 90) and the first he said was "Did you see the Moon and Venus the other night?" These are wonderful pictures! I think I'll send the url for this tabblo to my dad.
Vinca said at 3:19 p.m. on Jun 25, 2007:
Thank you everybody. :o)

LOL Laurel..thank you for your wonderful comment :o)

Paul, i saw this scene on the 18th of June, 2007 to be exact. Sharing it with your father is so touching Paul. Thank you. :o)

I like this! It just proves that you don't have to have the world's best camera to take a great shot.
Eduardo.affonso said at 3:40 p.m. on Jun 25, 2007:
Your Venus shines much more than ours - and that's not fair! Wish I could have seen that.

Elchante...WOW.....what a compliment! Thank you ever so much. :o)

Fuzzy..that's what i feel too now :o)

Eduardo ......hahaha..that's so funny and cute...but yes Venus does shine much more here. Much more than anywhere else in the world :o)

Noe, Dar, Anders, Bob..you guys like these shots too? You are such fine photographers and receiving such praise from you has me floating in air (despite the weight ..LOL) Thank you. :o)

Vinca said at 4:30 p.m. on Jun 25, 2007:
Oh WOW...Destiny ..you think so too? I am definitely floating :o)

Yes Ray.. a teeny weeny hand held, that shakes even in the wind. Thank you so much for your appreciation :o)

April, your comment made me laugh. I have the most shaky hands in the world i think. Just can't keep them steady while taking pictures. Especially, since i focus very carefully and for long periods of time. And when bending over to get a flower shot, Phew! that is the most difficult of all! Even with this moon shot, which is my first night shot by the way, i had to take several shots with several settings before i decided i had taken enough and it couldn't get any better. So glad you liked it :o)
DEE-Trow said at 4:32 p.m. on Jun 25, 2007:
I think these are very good! I have yet to get a decent picture of Venus and the moon. Maybe if we had expensive cameras with lens, etc. I don't think I'm ready for that yet. For a point and shoot, these are really good!
LatentE said at 4:34 p.m. on Jun 25, 2007:
Great shot. A few images came to mind. The flag of Turkey. A reflector telescope, and the old Proctor & Gamble logo.
AJK said at 4:42 p.m. on Jun 25, 2007:
Jolly good and well done considering it was with a simple hand held camera.

The only moon pics I've taken so far are these of the last eclipse but they're hardly worth making a tabblo for:

Rahul.sharma said at 6:41 p.m. on Jun 25, 2007:
Had there been another planet/star in near vicinity (not physical of course) over moon, then it could have looked like a Smiling face. :D For now, I would still think of it ..ummmm... as if some one is winking & smiling in the dark. Good shot!
John98 said at 7:41 p.m. on Jun 25, 2007:
I love it. But makes me feel insignificant.

I have been watching "my" planet for days now. It's been so beautiful just as darkness comes, and the sky is still illuminated...Wanting to capture it, but know I couldn't. Thank you Vinca, so perfect! great job persisting.
Vinca said at 11:10 a.m. on Jun 26, 2007:
Thank you EMA, Jeff, Susan, Lee, Tammy, Antonio, Anna, Paula, Loonette for your gracious words of encouragement :o)

Dee, I share your feelings regarding an expensive camera. I don't think i am ready for one either. I am a novice and want to get better at photography with the point and shoot first. There's lots to learn yet. Moreover, nothing can beat the convenience of this small camera. I can take it with me anywhere and not worry about it's weight or lugging it around. The telephoto lens etc are for serious professionals and i too am not ready for it, much as i may like to have one for pictures of birds in flight. I also feel that the beauty of this picture is because it's a replica of what we see when we look up through our naked eye.Through a powerful lens, the technical and real look of these two would be seen, which may not be as beautiful, to our eyes :o)

Latent, the first thought that came to my mind when i saw the position of the venus and the moon that night was the flag of Pakistan LOL :o)

Andy, i think your pictures of the moon are excellent and you should post them here. Thank you for your encouragement :o)

Thank you Annelies. Yes, it does seem to be serious stuff when one takes pictures of the sky. Though i feel that it is very easy to do so with a good lens and there are plenty of opportunities to capture it. The difficulty lies in capturing life always on the move, at least that's what i feel. And it's tuesday in India. :o)

Rahul, now that you mention it, it does look like someone winking & smiling in the dark LOL..good observation. Thank you for that. It made me look again and laugh. :o)

John, thank you. But i didn't understand how it makes you feel insignificant.

Lifequest, i don't know. This was my first attempt of photography at night. But yes, i did have some problems while photographing these, but just did the best i could. Thank you. :o)

Thank you Margaret. Yes, the moon does reflect the sun's light and that is why you probably feel that way :o)

LOL Woody..yes a hand held shot of these heavenly bodies. Thank you so very much for your high words of praise :o) and India it is :o)

Pam, you should capture the beauty. You will be able to. Just have to try. Thank your for your appreciation. I don't know whether it's perfect, but if all of you are finding the shot good, it must be quite o.k :o)
Pkeener said at 11:30 a.m. on Jun 26, 2007:
The photographer is not marked by the price of hte equipment. It's the eye that matters..
CPhoto said at 12:20 p.m. on Jun 26, 2007:
To be able to manage such great photos without the aid of fancy equipment - kudos to you!
Vinca said at 12:35 p.m. on Jun 26, 2007:
Thank you CPhoto :o)

Pam, you are absolutely right. But the expensive equipment does manage more detail and in depth photographs, which would be a wonderful experience and vision to enjoy :o)
