Barry Bonds visits the Chicago Cubs

Barry Bonds warms up before his first at bat

Ramiraz reacts to his Long Gone ball!

First time up, Barry hits is 752 homer. He is 3 shy of the record. He had one more homer bringing him within 2 of the record

You can never stretch too much

It was a tough game, but with aggresive base running, the cubs won 9 to 8

Looks like he connected with the ball just fine

Every time Bonds was up, Security came out "everywhere"

2 handed pickup? In the majors?

There's just something about this shot which says "baseball" :)

The ball was poorly thrown and actually headed to the outfield. Ramiraz went to 3rd and eventually scored.

It was ugly - but it was caught

The UMPS take the field

An easy throw to first to keep Barry close.

Looks like it's right down the middle

I love the "bubble" in this guys mouth.

This was an extra base hit for Wynn. The ball looks like it is going straight up...

Ward lost the ball and pulled something on this play. He left the game after the play.

In the dirt. And he didn't go for it. Nice.

Ramiraz was on fire all day

... and he let us know

The TV crew across the field.

And of course, we sing: Take me out to the ball game during the 7th inning stretch.

You can see the "ENTIRE" ball park in this guys sunglasses.... so cool!

And yes - he was safe!

Another show of security in between innings and whenever Barry was on the field.

Great shots. You've really captured the feel of being at a ballgame (even a hotdog). Years ago I got some shots of Hank Aaron at Jarry Park in Montreal though I didn't have a field level seat or a long lens, so nothing special other than Aaron. In those days Montreal had someone known as "The Dancer" who danced through the stands during the seventh inning stretch. It's a shame what was done to baseball in Montreal.

Wow are these great, I can almost smell the popcorn and beer. It looks like you were actually oon the field, what kind of camera did you use?

SAUNIEK: These were taken with a Nikon D200. The last photo was with a 17-55mm lens. All the others was with a 70-200mm lens.

My wife entered us in a lottery for tickets in the new "Dugout Box Seats" These 3 rows are actually parallel to the dugout. We got lucky - won and got 6 seats for family.

We were separated, only by a "swing metal gate" from the press photographers... it was pretty cool sitting along side them.

The day started cold and very windy. But somewhere in the 4th inning, the cool humid air cleared and we had a beautiful day as this last photo shows. The sun played havoc all day.

Great shots, looks like those were fantastic seats. Lucky you! I think baseball is a beautiful game and nothing beats seeing it played in classic ballpark like Wrigley...except seeing a game at Fenway. *grin* Go Cubbies, Go Red Sox!!

Bob, those seats are sweet! You had a beautiful day for a game. Great shots. Can't say that any one is a favorite, they are all great. Bxrgirl is right, you should be a sports photographer.

Wow Bob!! This is an amazing Tabblo!!! You have a sweet portfolio here if you ever want to work for the Trib or the Sun Times. What do you do by the way? :) Also, my husband wants to know if he can have your seats. :) *Wink*

I don't know anything about baseball and don't care about Bonds, but I know a little about photography and your sport shots are so amazing that I love them without caring about the sport. The photos are always of at least professional quality. Great job Bob

Bob, you should quit your day job and become a sports photographer. You have such a passion for it, and you are darn good at it. You have an uncanny knack for snapping at the right moment. I love baseball. A dog and a beer, here!!

What great photos! The old security guard in front of the field is my favorite. Looks like you had great seats! Going to a Sox game tomorrow night - no Barry Bonds there!
