I've been a Harry Potter fan ever since I read the first book (way back in 1998), but I have never stood in line to get the book when it came out at midnight. Since this is the last Harry Potter book I figured I would never have the chance to do it again so I went (with my 1 month old baby in tow) with my nephew, my niece and my sister to Barnes & Noble. We were all out in Utah for my brother's wedding a few days precious but my mom had reserved copies for us. Even so, when we got there at 11:00 p.m. and the line was already really long. I have rarely seen lines that long but once the doors opened at 12:01 a.m. , we only had to stand in line for another hour and fifteen minutes. It was worth it. |

Ahh, there they are--the books. |

We had a lot of fun discussing previous books and speculating on who would die and what would happen in this book but the most fun was seeing all the die hard fans dressed up in their costumes. I am not good at night pictures--still trying to learn and experimenting with different settings on my camera but you get the idea. I was amazed at how good some of the costumes were. Favorites that I didn't get pictures of were Hagrid, Snape and Sirius Black. By the time we got home it was about 1:30 and I was so tired that I was only able to stay awake to read the first chapter. I didn't get a lot of time to read in the next day or two but I managed to finish it by Monday evening. I won't say anything about it since there may be some people who haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I loved it. Hooray for Harry! |
