In the Adirondacks Again

Lest you should think that nature is anything but chaos . . .

It rained a lot. the trees were heavy with water, and the birds and the brook and the rain from the sky and the trees combined their sounds.

But books were read, and hikes were hiked, and the deep magic of the old world made its mark again. What happens in those dark northeastern woods bears no relationship to what happens in the west, in Patagonia, in Europe.

I tried to present these in color, but the northeastern woods would not allow it.

The flowers shown are bladder campion.

These images have superb tones giving the scenes a very living quality, especially the indoor/outdoor images. They're wonderful. It reminds me of the many trips I've taken on Route 87/The Adirondack Northway. I think the sign on the road read "America's Most Scenic Highway - 1967." It's still a beautiful area.

That looks like a wonderfully cozy little cabin. I love the shot of the stockinged feet propped up by the wood stove. Perhaps to ward off the chill of a rainy day? Give me a book and a cup of tea and that would be heaven for me. I also love your last shot with the mountain panorama. The sky hangs pendulously low as if you could reach out and touch it. Pendulously....Is that even a word? Doesn't matter, it describes the way the pic makes me feel.

TCG - I like the B&W treatment a lot, the selection and arrangement, and the use of text. it is beautiful and informative. My only objection (and it is a small one considering the strength of the overall presentation) is that some images are cropped to show part of a frame. By the way - thanks for adding this one to the Central New York Group as well

TCG: This really makes me want to go spend some time in the woods again! I too love the shot of the stockinged feet propped up; I can almost smell the drying wool! I like very much the last three shots and the panorama as well. I like their clarity, but mostly I just enjoy seeing what they show. Overall the tabblo works nicely in sharing the experience of a beautiful relaxing retreat, and I don't think the colour was needed to do that; I might even go as far as to have displayed them in sepia (maybe just the shots of the cabins interior) to exaggerate that 'old world', timeless feel of a cabin in the woods.
