Jimmy Fund Family Festival, July 28, 2007

See the great pictures taken of this amazing day where 2,000 members of the Jimmy Fund family enjoyed a day of fun!

That's Lisa Scherber (aka "the play lady") who planned this whole day! Thank you, Lisa!!!

Police officers were there from surrounding towns to let kids take a ride in their cruisers and play with the sirens!

Home Depot set up a whole wordworking area for kids to make their own crafts!

They got their faces painted before heading to the wordworking tent!

There were special Cookies by Design made for the event! This is the same logo from the event t-shirts!

What do you mean it's 90 degrees out? In New England, chowder is good in any weather!

There was a DJ on hand to spin tunes for this all day celebration!

Tons of arcade games & rides kept everyone busy!

Take a spin on the teacups!

The pirate ship is aways a fun one! Check out the pool in the background where everyone could swim on this hot day!

More teacup riders

Look at all those t-shirts and hats! By the end of the day, we had given out every t-shirt and hat! Quite the turn out for this great event!

The basketball shooting game (and the fast ball game next to it) was a huge hit!

There was so much for everyone to do!  Swimming, arcade rides and games, building things, making special hardhats, eating a delicious bbq, dancing to the DJ's music, the petting zoo, and flying kites was just the beginning!  Thanks to Lisa Scherber and the wonderful Jimmy Fund friends, this was an amazing day!

Check out the HUGE beach balls outside the pool area! The kids loved playing with these on the big open fields!

A little girl uses one of the smaller beach balls as a seat inside the picnic tent!

Throw a football through the tire to win a Red Sox or Patriots teddy bear!!! So much fun!

Getting pointers on the best way to throw to win a prize!

The merry-go-round was busy all day long!

This was one of the coolest rides!

This little guy was having a blast! Maybe he's a future astronaut in training! Here he is right side up....

... And upside down!!!!

The petting zoo had lots of cute little animals for kids to play with and cuddle throughout the day.  There were kittens, ducklings, puppies, bunnies, and even a baby pig!

Caring for the cute little bunnies in baby blankets

So cute! Check out those stylish red bandanas!

Dunkin' Donuts was on hand to give away some cool, refreshing drinks on this hot day!

This huge slide had a line all day long!

Is that a dancing donut?!?

Mmmmm.... cotton candy!

The huge slide was SO much fun!!! Lisa thought of everything! What a fun day for everyone!

This is where the families checked in to get their event t-shirts, hats, bracelets, and sunblock! The 15th Annual Family Festival was a blast for everyone!

Here's Lisa again, greeting families as they arrive at the Family Festival!

There were some really cool reptiles for kids to play with and learn about - there were 2 turtles (this one is 30 years old!), lizards, and an alligator too!

This 60 lb. turtle was enjoying the grass for lunch!

This turtle was moving pretty fast!

These little daredevils pet the alligator! Wow!

Ready.... Set....

.... Kick the big beach ball!!!

Here some kids (and parents!) get to ride around in a police cruiser thanks to the Walpole Police! The kids got to use the sirens and the megaphone in the police cruiser!

This is only a part of the grounds where the event took place. The rest of the space included all the arcade games, rides, petting zoo, pool, kites, and so much more! Under these tents, everyone could enjoy the bbq lunch and the fun activities set up to make crafts and hardhats!

Time to eat!

Check out all the delicious food! What a great day for a barbecue!!!

This was a really fun activity! Kids got to decorate their own hardhats in lots of fun colors!

And here is more wookdworking thanks to the Home Depot!

One of our favorite Westwood police officers, Joe Vinci, was there to give cruiser rides to the kids. Thanks, Joe!!!
