This is kind of unfair, don't you think? I'll have to deal with rusty stuff and you got all this amazing animals and surroundings!! :) But I'm glad it's not the other way around, because I would never be able to take the pictures you do! These are very effectfull with the diffusive background, the bird really stands out in a nice way. When I first saw the first shot I thought it was a stuffed bird! :) Beuatiful captures, and tabblo - as allways!

Anders, these are terrific pictures, as usual. The first one is outstanding! What a wonderful tabblo this is!

Beautiful tabblo, Anders! Amazing how you can capture birds in their natural element so very well.
LatentE said at 11:59 a.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Beautiful subtle tones and colors. It's as if you can reach out and touch the bird, except you know it'd fly away .. like a drunk in a midnight choir?
Pkeener said at 12:14 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Latent beat me to it and got it, too!! like a drunk in a midnight choir...These are just superb. I prefer the 1st shot in color.
Wlk68 said at 12:16 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Amazing detail! You can see every line of every feather. Nicely done, Anders.

Wow... beautiful tabblo Anders! Amazing shots!!
Leftofcenter said at 12:35 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
did ya hear that Pammie sistah?????? Leftie got it FIRST! (I'm a big Leonard Cohen fan Anders!)
LatentE said at 12:36 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
I'm surprised Leftie didn't ask that the tabblo be added to her Québec group considering the songwriter. I think Willie Nelson sings it as "bird on a wire." Montreal boy Leonard Cohen sings "bird on the wire."
Pkeener said at 12:40 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Oh, I stand corrected...bows to both of da Kanucks. I was, of course thinking it was Leonard C, and not Willie
Floridamolle said at 12:53 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Well I ain't sure but think Leonard Cohen wrote it, I have it on Cash unearthed. So I guess it's a lot of artists that recorded it
Pkeener said at 1:18 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
thanks for this, Anders!
Hazzy said at 1:23 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
lovley Anders!!
Leftofcenter said at 1:27 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
you're right LatentE it is "bird on THE wire" by Leonard Cohen (yes from MONTREAL, Quebec) a lot of artists recorded it Willie Nelson did it on the tribute album to Cohen, it's just a mistake the A instead of THE, there's only ONE drunk in a midnight choir!! ;)
Floridamolle said at 1:35 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Wow, here is the version that I have with Cash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rb1rse0fKs

Beautiful pictures.I love that first one~
Tishfish said at 1:50 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Anders I had to come back and see this again. The top picture is so real.
LatentE said at 1:52 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
This is probably something like the line "play it again Sam" in Casablanca. I think only Leonard Cohen uses "the." "A" sounds better and seems more correct. "The" would refer to some specific wire. I just checked a Jennifer Warnes version of the song. She has worked with Cohen. She uses "a." But then maybe for Cohen there was some specific wire that tethered him somehow.

I love your birds! Beautiful set anders.
OscarDaniel said at 2:58 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Tabblo critique: Anders , is difficult to have a critique to yours tabblos, I think all are amazing.
But....I will call attention to last picture, this picture are a great area without any thing of interest, will be better if you crop it. Is just my opinion, the picture is great anyway...
Ejmccartin said at 3:11 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
the first one is the stand out for sure, the detail and clarity, stunning. kind of agree with Oscar on the last one, still I like him (the bird, not Oscar) off center. but the third one needs... more contrast? something, the background is a bit distracting and the bird gets a bit lost in it. is the color version more contrast-y?
Rheap said at 3:36 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Very remarkable bird pictures, especially the first one, the only critique I can see is in the last one, I think the judges would say that the subject is sitting too close the edge of picture, but apart from that, Fantastic!!!
TeresaAnn said at 3:45 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Very nice
Floridamolle said at 4:46 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
Thank you everyone, especially I want to thank Oscar, Ray and Elizabeth for the constructive critique that you guys gave. I have looked and changed a few things. The last one I did a new cropping on and it is much better that way Oscar and Elizabeth. Maybe it got a little closer to what you said too Ray, cause that is where the birdie is from start. I also looked at the first one and gave it a little more air in front of the beak. Thank you again, love critique.
Floridamolle said at 4:48 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
And BTW Elizabeth, the thing is that the first pic is just much better, sharper, right light......

Applegirllayla said at 8:05 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
tabblo critique: wow. i wish nature would sit still for me! lol I am going to go another way and say that I really like the last shot. It kind of says, "Nothing else matters. Look at the pretty birdy!" but not in such a corny way. I do like the composition and would be really sad if you cropped this. I think sometimes what we leave as empty space is as important or supportive to what we put in those empty spaces. It makes the bird feel right here in my bedroom.

The other shots are beautiful. I like how you have the first in color and the rest in b&w. I think it lends interest and really brings out the tones you captured in that first shot. I almost didn't know how I felt about this set. The background, especially in color, is really strong... the bird blends in. But the bird DOES blend in naturally with its surroundings and after a little thought I found it utterfly fascinating to see that a predator would have a hard time finding your birdie. Sometimes nature speaks for itself - even if it uses your camera to do it! Thanks for sharing. Oh, btw... my three year old saw your pics and started making lovely bird sounds. :) It was really cute.

amazing personalities captured!
AliDar said at 9:54 p.m. on Aug 6, 2007:
TCG: Anders this is spectacular! I love the top photo; the subtle colours really stand out because of the soft grey background! It almost seems like a colourized B&W! The B&W's themselves, seem a bet sharp by comparison, but they draw your attention towards the tonal and liner aspects of the scene. ... Your layout and colour choices are excellent, and this tabblo is such a pleasure to view! :)
Hollyridger said at 4:56 p.m. on Aug 7, 2007:
TCG: It is hard to talk about all four photographs as a group because to me the coloured version seems to take away from the black and white even though I think the b & w are superbly composed and you have managed to capture wonderful expressions. I love the colour, composition and balance in the coloured shot. If I had a chance to take the photo again I would like to see all of the tail rather than just part of it. Otherwise, I really love the first shot. One other point, the coloured version really draws attention to the long legs of this bird. Is this a Baird's Sandpiper?
