Balloon Festival

There's a week in October where magic fills the air over Albuquerque, N.M. Going to this balloon festival was nothing less than amazing to me. Each morning over 700 balloons take to the air in waves and enter Albuquerque's unique boxed wind condition. This special air flow allows the balloonists to lift off, go up and over then land in the same field. For the bystanders on land, this means over four hours of a colorful visual overload.

This is a great Tabblo Jude...These are the best shots I've ever seen of the balloon festival. It must have been a fabulous time for you!

WOW! Oh my word! LOL! ... I love the first shot, but it in no way did it prepared me to see so many balloons! ... You think the title would have been a dead give-away! <grin> ... Wow, did they have someone directing traffic up there?! Great shots, and great tabblo! :)

This is a wonderful tabblo. Lucky you getting to be there! And you took some great shots! The first one is stunning. But the ones with tons of balloons are really cool.

JuDeck, have you been to this event before? I am sure that as absolutely awesome as these pictures are, they can only begin to inspire the magnitude of this event that you saw in person.

This is going right into My Favorites. I have ALWAYS wanted to go to this. The pictures are magnificent. I can't even imagine how beautiful it is in person!

The brown and white balloon with the ring of tall Navajo sand-painting figures is one of my favorites. We saw it land on a bike path beside the Rio Grande one year. I love the first shot with the fiery burner, and the distance shots showing the expanse of balloons rising on the field. The glow and the gas balloons are nice additions. Hope that landing amongst all the wires was successful!
