This is intriguing. I've been to Louisianna and I can't recall seeing a cemetary where people were buried in the ground. All the cemetaries I saw had those above ground mausoleum things. Interesting.

This is right downtown... near the Elvis Street and that museum. I wanted to go through more of it ... but the road to drive through it was not real good.

Great photos, Sheila! I love exploring graveyards, especially old ones like this. My absolute favourite is that last shot, not only is it a great capture, but I wonder just who Ella A. Green was, enjoy the beauty of her tombstone, and feel saddened by the graves state of disrepair. Nice work! :)

Way cool Sheila. Do you have any close ups of the scene with that rustic looking fence?? I like that one and would like to see more. I think it is picture 15 on here.

it seem so old and neglected. think this is in the older part of town...great photos, Sheila! thank you. Wendy, Northern Louisiana is not the same as he southern part of the state. More like Texas. They aren't as low and the graves are not typically above ground.

Nice shots! I love graveyards! So full of stories!

Alidar - I too wondered who Ella A. Green was. This one too made me think and that is why I placed it at the end. :)

Tim - I was in the car taking the pics so I did not get out and explore that rustic fence, though I wanted to. I was visiting someone there that day and we were driving around in the car. That part of the cemetary dropped down low and it had such deep pot holes in the road that I had to back my car all the way back up the hill. So I was more concerned at that point ... getting out.. hahahaha...

Pam - This was in the older part of the downtown by a Elvis Museum. It was sort of up behind that big Baptist church that over looks downtown.

Miss Pixie - I think they are so interesting. SOOOO many stories.....in a graveyard.

Looks as if this is one very old cemetery. The stones all look so weathered and worn.

Laura - yes .. it appears to be a really old one. I wish I would have walked around and captured some pictures of other areas ... but it was hot ... we were in a car ... and on a deadline too. :)

Mark - Thanks ... I loved the one you recently did too. :)

Noe - Not bad for shooting from the car.. huh ?? hahahahaha...

Love2laugh said at 5:40 a.m. on Aug 14, 2007:
Karsten - no idea who that "Ford" is. :) Probably not related to anyone famous... but never know. :) I like to imagine what the people's lives might have been like though. Glad you liked my graveyard tabblo. :)

Great graveyard pictures, always interesting with old cemeteries, I can now clearly see that you are my sis, as I have several that kind of tabblos. Your bro, raised by fire ants

Anders - Yes ... I knew some had done the Graveyard Tabblos ... so was scared I might not fit in if I didn't do one. :) Glad to know you claim me as a sister... even though... You ignore me. :)

Teresa - Thanks !!

Thanks Woody. I had been tempted to go to where my husband is buried and look for old plots, but just haven't. This was a great place to take them though.
