Beth Norton Design - Olympic Court

This is a makeover I did on a bachelor's condo in Princeton, NJ. The client wanted a clean, contemporary, masculine look. He wanted his home to look 'done' but not 'overly-done.'

Before I began work on it, the entire condo was painted a dingy, flat, white and it had outdated appliances, cabinets, fixtures, floorcoverings, and window treatments. Too bad I didn't take any pictures of the teal green CHINTZ drapes before taking them down!

Anyway, check out the results!

GREAT ROOM BEFORE:

Note the outdated brass finish on the fireplace insert and the dingy, white walls.

GREAT ROOM AFTER:

Walls were painted "Silver Sage" in an eggshell finish from Restoration Hardware. All trim and doors were painted "Ultra Pure White" by Behr in semigloss finish.

Brass fireplace insert was painted with black high-heat tolerant paint and a mantle and large clock were added. Leather couch, entertainment unit, coffee table, CD storage, lamps, pillows, and accessories all purchased at Ikea for a striking yet inexpensive result. Simple curtain panels to coordinate with the wall color.

DINING ROOM BEFORE:

Note the outdated brass candlestick chandelier, lack of color and window treatments.

DINING ROOM AFTER:

Walls and trim painted the same as the great room. Light fixture updated. Custom drapery to coordinate with wall color. Dining table, chairs, buffet, and shelving all purchased at Ikea. Accessories purchased at Pottery Barn and Pier 1.

KITCHEN BEFORE:

Note the dark, outdated oak cabinets, outdated appliances, outdated flooring (ok, outdated EVERYTHING!), and poor lighting.

KITCHEN AFTER:

Cabinets painted a fresh white, brushed nickel hardware added. Walls painted a soft blue. Under-cabinet lighting added to brighten task areas. Butcher block island added. Linoleum flooring replaced with a natural stone-look tile. Appliances replaced with stainless steel (range hood was on special order at the time photo was taken). New countertops, sink, and faucet not yet installed at time of photo.

HALLWAY BEFORE:

Outdated light fixture, gloomy and lacking color.

HALLWAY AFTER:

Paint color from the great room is extended down the hallway. Trim and doors painted a fresh coat of white semigloss. Light fixture updated. Stripes on kitchen wall tie together the color of the great room with the kitchen.

MASTER BEDROOM:

Walls painted Silver Sage. Shelving added in lieu of nightstands at each side of the bed. Lighting inside shelving highlights accessories. Personal photos used as artwork. Reading lights conveniently located overhead.
