MHCityPlanner said at 11:07 a.m. on Aug 19, 2007: Wow, great exploration of form and theme in BW. Really like the interiors of the church pews. Have mixed emotions about the introduction of color images in the tabblo. They are great shots that have their own place in another tabblo. Again love the contrast of both simple and complex form. Wonderful tabblo, Wendy.
Leftofcenter said at 11:10 a.m. on Aug 19, 2007: love this in b&w, the rows of pews, the curves of the handrails.. and the title! Amen.

Hollyridger said at 2:43 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: Many great shots here, Wendy. I think the softness of the black and white lends itself so well to this subject. My favourites are the three photos in the fourth row from the bottom.
Wlk68 said at 2:56 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: Thank you all for the lovely comments. An extra special thank you to John (a.k.a. jsm here at Tabblo) for inviting me to see this wonderful church. I had a great time but I didn't do this lovely building half the justice it deserved. You can see his version of the shoot here:
Wlk68 said at 2:58 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: Forgot to mention one of the many cool things about this church. The bell in the bell tower was made by Revere and Sons....yeah, THAT Paul Revere.
Jerii said at 3:12 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: B&W certainly seems the perfect way to look at this wonderful building. I like this.
Love2laugh said at 3:14 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: VERY WELL DONE ... Wendy. I love all the attention to detail you gave it.
Ciudi said at 3:43 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: a great tabblo, wonderful shapes
Brian_Doyle said at 4:42 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: I cannot add any more to the comments, it has all been said this tabblo is great. The blue sky through the window is a touch of genius. As a australian who knows nothing about US history I will not ask who was Paul Revere.
Wlk68 said at 4:51 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: Feel free to ask, Brian. I tend to forget that not everyone here is a Yank like myself. Paul Revere played an important part in the American Revolution. He was a silversmith by trade.
Brian_Doyle said at 6:29 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: Wendy i was having a friendly dig...... (Grin). If you want a triva question, when Paul rode out to spread the word and stir up the people, who also rode out that night but headed for Lexington to spread the word but did not have the same success as Paul...............
Janer said at 7:13 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: Wow, awesome photos and superb layout. Another favorite Tabblo! (:
Wlk68 said at 7:31 p.m. on Aug 19, 2007: In answer to Brian's trivia question: William Dawes

Jsm said at 3:00 p.m. on Aug 20, 2007: Well, Wendy, these a terrific. I'm not sure that it was kind of you to photograph so many good pictures of the gas lamps, of which lamps I had admitted to you I had never gotten a decent photo - your pix of these are all terrific. I like you B&W choices, and I like the viscous, not sharp-edge, quality of your B&W treatment. Your two quasi-panoramics, the last one and the one of the dual gas lamps, are absolutely stunning. Well done!
Magedimages said at 3:36 p.m. on Aug 20, 2007: Splendide ! Des lignes droites avec des courbes et cette lumière douce... Bravo !
Wlk68 said at 3:39 p.m. on Aug 20, 2007: Thanks, John! I named this Tabblo "Seeing The Light" for several reasons: The actual lights/lamps that are scattered about the church, the lovely light coming in through the windows and, of course, the Divine Light. *grin*
Floridamolle said at 6:26 p.m. on Aug 20, 2007: You are so right, it's the light that is just wonderful in the pics, and of course the angles, the .....well everything is great. GREAT WORK!!!
AliDar said at 2:42 a.m. on Aug 21, 2007: Lovely Tabblo! The light really does seem divine! I love the lines you've captured as well, particularly in the third shot from the top; the little church steeple in the middle of the second row. The roof lines take the eye diagonally though the photo to the top of the steeple, pointing at the sky in the top right. Very Nice! :)
Decoy said at 9:56 a.m. on Aug 21, 2007: Very well captured of you! I love the perspective you've found!
DVP said at 1:40 p.m. on Aug 21, 2007: Wendy, you have a great eye for detail. I like your study of this church very much. I'm particularly fond of the coil of the stair rail.
Marcif said at 9:38 p.m. on Aug 21, 2007: This is awesome! You are such a great photographer!
Pkeener said at 8:40 a.m. on Aug 22, 2007: wendy i missed this one. What a great Tabblo tour. I really like how you used b&W for everything EXCEPT the sky/outdoor view shots. Really effective. All the shots are very good. Thank you for the link and the nice treat.
PaulBarfoot said at 8:47 a.m. on Aug 22, 2007: These are wonderful pictures! Incidentally, Joseph May the minister of this church in the era immediately after the Civil War was the son of Samuel Joseph May - one of Syracuse's most prominent Unitarian ministers of the 19th Century and a crusader for abolition, women's rights and temperance - for whom the May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society in Syracuse is named. Joseph May's cousin was Louisa May Alcott.

ViqiFrench said at 8:34 p.m. on Aug 25, 2007: Incredible b/w! So many great shots, but my favorites include the geometric maze of pews, looking up the faux columns flanking window, and the steeple against the dramatic blue sky. ;-)
