There's a whole ecosystem on a tree. |

Titus had a two-day school field trip to Khao Yai (Yai=Big, Khao=Mountain) for the second time this year. There were twenty families along with all the teachers going on this trip. We had two naturalists (Aj. Panya and Aj. Wachara) to educate everyone about the intricate beauty of life and symbiosis in the jungle, and to instill the love of nature in all of us.
Since this trip occurred during the rainy season, there were a lot of land leeches (http://www.austmus.gov.au/factsheets/leeches.htm) that looked like walking brown string coming toward us. They would bite and feed till they are filled and they would detach themselves away. Mommy Aor and Tatia turned back after 15 minutes of evading them, leaving Titus and Daddy Ko to continue in the jungle. Daddy Ko saved Titus by flicking the leeches with his finger but he got bitten by one of them on the right ankle. He, being a super brave scientist (ha ha), let the leech stay on for 15 minutes to observe its feed. |

These binoculars are yummy! |

Parents learned to use 8x binoculars to spot birds. Daddy Ko had a lot of fun trying to see real birds as opposed to watching them on Discovery Channel. |

Children were taught to record their observation by drawing their own pictures. When they saw a woodpecker pecking a tree, they sat down and start drawing immediately, to the astonishment of the parents. |

Birdwatching is overrated--I'd rather draw. |
