WOW Anders, these are horrible and great. The third photo I thought he had hairy eyebrows but I see it's his eyes. LOL. Great shots!!!

WHOA them are major cool crabs, oh is it unusual for the one front claws to be significantly larger than the other, brilliant capture, and now off to melt some butter :)

They look like they are ready to pinch the fire out of you!
Tishfish said at 5:04 p.m. on Sep 1, 2007:
Anders, I had to come back again for another look, you're so lucky those lethal claws didn't get a grip on your toes, LOL You would still be trying to get them off.

Looks like some of the crabs are right handed (clawed?) and some are left handed. Interesting. All are creepy looking but the pictures are great!

I don't think I have seen living crabs.. cause I've only seen the boiled ones! :) Very nice shoots of you! Tar du hand om dem och kokar och äter upp dem? Bra närbilder på dem!

Thank you everyone! These are small crabs about an inch / inch and a half (3-4 cm) across, often there is hundreds of them around the riverbeds. When it's low tide they find a lot of food on the shores. They are really shy and run hiding when you are like ten feet or closer, so to day I walked up close, and stood still until they started to sneak out again. I didn't know that they where left and right clowed, and that it is different types of them too. Nä Anna jag äter inte dem, bara tittar LOL!!

tabblo critique: splended presentation; i loved the show! what a nice little group of friends you have. i've always been fascinated with crabs when i see them skittering across the beaches and down into their seemingly too small holes. You did a fantastic job photographing one subject but still bringing out the variety of personalities that I never knew existed in crab life. I also didn't know how beautifully they were constructed, how smooth their lines and bodies are. Your backgrounds contain such a variety of colors but they are mild enough not to distract. Bravo! I can't wait to see who or what you meet tomorrow!

I met some crabby PEOPLE today.. hahahaha... but see you also met some crabs. :) Too cool.

Your patience was rewarded then; you even caught them having a bit of a duel! :) Some very nice shots here! I love the contasts between the second and third ones; the second shot is colourful, and crisp, and the third is sharp and granular, makes the crab seem a bit threatening, I think. Cool about the right and left claw thing!

Looks as if they were saying "Snatch, snatch, snatch"... There must be quite some muscle in those arms. Great photos.
