Living so close to Banff allows me the freedom to hang around after the tourists snap one or two shots and leave. There was some interesting dynamics between these rams. The larger/older ram (pictured left, with the greatest curls on his horns) was dominating the ridge. The others started ascending after much snorting and posturing. I think they were asking for permission. The rut should be starting soon and they're already getting the pecking order straight.

I love that first shot with the goat sitting on the hill and giving the other two the ol' evil eye. Great tabblo.

Wendy, that's my favorite too, though I do love the gold of the eye on these Mountain Sheep.
(Goats are white shaggy critters)

The closeup of the dominant ram was taken after I heard something walking up behind me. I was focusing on something else... from a few feet away he made me focus on him before he chose to saunter up to the ridge. Apparently, I was in his way.

Beautiful. The last shot is spectacular. I love mountain sheep. I was so dissapointed when I was in vacationing in Colorado that I never got to see them in the Wild. So thanks for sharing.
