A wonderful remembrance and tribute. So urban, civel and beautifully captured. As a title I would suggest instead of "Blinding" that these lights, and these images are of awareness and new vision. Thanks for putting it together and the timely post!

I wasn't sure what to make for a title. Then I thought of the Simon & Garfunkel lyrics.

"I’m blinded by the light of God and truth and right and I wander in the night without direction."

I was thinking about this all day, as I am sure most of us were. And a thought came to me about making a 911 Tabblo. But it just wasn't in me and I hoped that you would do it, Latent. and you did. Thank you so much.

There are all magnificent! Really taken with the 3rd one, where light beams thru the bare trees. Very different perspective, a treat. ;-)

Amazing photos! Thank you for sharing... nice tribute..

These are all beautiful, beautiful shots. I had to go back after reading Nmat's comment and saw that the big dipper was there, remarkable presence over the blinding lights (in all it's many levels of meaning) of the city. The sculptures of light are a fitting memorial for a tragic day.

Thanks everyone for the kind words regarding this collection of images in remembrance of the horrible events of six years ago. I should point out that the image with the dipper (I don't know which dipper it is. I had thought the little dipper was the brighter one with the big dipper harder to find) had the stars brightened. They were there in the image, along with many other stars that night. The city, being bright, doesn't often have many stars visible. But as I was looking closely at the full sized image, the form of the dipper became obvious. Enhancing the individual stars made the surprise overlook more apparent.
LatentE said at 10:37 p.m. on Sep 17, 2007:
I just did a google on the dippers and as usual I've got the choice backwards. The big dipper is the one more visible. The little dipper has the north star as its tip of the handle star and that's not the situation in the picture, where north is to the right. The big dipper stars forming the side of the pan opposite the handle point to the north star.

This is lovely! The photo with the big dipper in it is wonderful. All the stars are so clear and bright over the bright city. A wonderful tribute.
