World, Ted. Ted, World.
Ted: Retired mad scientist, swimming champion (#2 senior in America), fun and funny as heck!
Ted, between belly laughs, talks Planck, Newton, gravity, mass, force, velocity, and panpsychic something.
Me? Hell, I just learned yesterday that I'm not smarter than a fifth grader! But I will remember this, thanks to the Fox TV show:
My very excellent mother just made us noodle pudding.
You probably already know this one, but the mnemonic is new to me. It helps you remember the order in which planets in our solar system align from the sun.
Earth (aka "excellent") is the third word/rock from the sun.
I managed to impress Ted, nonetheless, by fairly quickly passing his little brain-teaser. He announced a sequence of numbers and challenged me to figure out which number would come next. I cracked the code! |

It was right about then -- after the Fibonacci numbers challenge -- that Julia and Mario stripped down to their water-wear and jumped in ice-cold Lake Michigan! And swam as far as the third buoy... A half-mile away, I'd guess.
I worried...
However Ted, I could tell, wished he could jump in, too. For 39 years, Ted climbed down in these waters and swam shocking distances. |

... And that's the way it was. Another sunrise full of surprise on Promontory Point in Hyde Park, Chicago. |
