On September 19, 2007, Briana opened her second season of Ancient Civilizations programs at the Round Lake Area Library with the wildly popular Ancient Celts! |
Senior Archaeologist Briana led the excavation |

There was some peeking into the site as young archaeologists lined up outside before the unveiling |
And oh, what wonders they found inside! |

Stonehenge |

Celtic chess |

A chariot |

Ancient Celtic maps |

Celtic knots a-plenty |

Astrology crafts |

Princess |

Hidden clues in a forest of knowledge |

A replica Celtic sword, guarded cautiously by Israel |
Let the activities begin! |

Where do you begin? |

Activity booklets led the way with instructions and questions to answer |

Cartography is always an element of the Ancient Civilizations programs |

Curious |

Cooperative |

Hard working |

There were real tools on the premises and Briana had a wound to prove it |
Marina had the honor of being the temporary tattoo artist -- no one wields a sponge quite as well as she does |

Once everyone realized they could get a temporary tattoo, Marina's table was met with much enthusiasm |

Everyone worked well within their groups, assisting one another and sharing the fun |

As always, the young archaeologists' hard work was rewarded with a goodie bag. They received two take-home crafts, Ancient Civilizations pencils, a copy of Briana's Celtic newspaper, their hard hats, and most importantly, a fun learning experience to take with them forever. |
