Lamp Shadows

These are digital paintings by me, G. Smith from Houston, Texas.  I find interesting photos from many sources across the web, bring them into Photoshop and use various techniques to modify them until they resemble paintings in traditional media like oil paints, watercolors, colored pencil, pastels, etc.  The average digital painting takes me perhaps two hours or so to complete.

As an artist (I am a decent watercolorist and wield a pretty mean pencil), I find that I can turn out satisfying digital paintings far quicker and with much less frustration than hauling out the paper, pencils, brushes and paint.

This is only a small, small sample of the digi-paintings I've created; more will be added later.  Some of my paintings are a bit more risqué than others (i.e. nudes).  If the site rules permit, I'll probably make a tabblo album of some of those paintings before long.

Thanks for viewing and I hope you enjoy.  Any and all comments are welcome.

best regards,

g. smith

I've been waiting for a Tabblo of substance. Thank you! This would serve well as a Featured Tabblo.

WOW! Busta! These are really great!
They look much better against this background than plain white and orange ;)
I'm so glad you're here...

Thanx Nonie, and thanx very much again for introducing me to this site. I'll probably add a link in my dkos sig to my tabblo collection once I have enough entries to brag about

Superior grasp of fine photography, composition, line & form- PLUS you can draw and do this fantastic digital tablet processing? Unfair to amateurs! Wow.

Bolometer9: Thanks for the kudos, but I don't use a tablet ... just Photoshop and a mouse. I will probably get a Wacom Intuos 4x5 before the end of the year.

Very cool and artistic - I would just ask that you be aware of copyright infringement. Are you giving credit to the original photographer? You arent allowed to just "use" someones work - because it is posted on a website does not necessarily make it "public domain" etc.
Not trying to be a jerk, your stuff is very nice, just suggesting you ask permission from the originator is all. Mark

Netman42: The photos are taken almost exclusively from public domain sites like morguefile.com and sxc.hu.
