UrbanParadoxes said at 3:41 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: Pam ... this is the kind of Tabblo that "turns me on." I love this sort of documentation of urban life as it evolves and devolves. Thanks.
OscarDaniel said at 3:49 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: Good tabblo Pam!! great photos!
Oldbogus said at 3:52 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: Great capture of these glimpses of Denver's history. The way construction is going, these are likely to be gone soon.
Pkeener said at 3:56 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: I wanted to add a text explanation, but had trouble with tabblo. These were all taken in the warehouse district of Denver, Colorado, last Spring. Most of the buildings have been turned into "lofts" offices, and retail space...hopefully these fading advertisements will not fade away soon.
Hollyridger said at 4:07 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: Me too, I really enjoy this type of tabblo/photography. Very well done, Pam...
Oldbogus said at 4:16 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: I've had some problems with Tabblo myself. It sometimes doesn't want to respond after an edit, especially with larger sets of pictures. I guess we're wearing it out!
StacyCK said at 5:05 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: I love these - great photos Pam! Wonderful documentation of another era.
I have problems with adding text a lot, too. :(
JuDeck said at 5:26 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: I love seeing these types of building ads. This is a great collection Pam.
Nmat said at 5:28 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: The past in the present in pentimento. Thoughtful and striking tabblo as always, Pam.
Eduardo.affonso said at 5:58 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: These texts and old images look like ghosts watching the living world from "the other side", and refusing to fade away, do be forgotten, to just vanish and be erased from the bricks' memory. I like what Nancy said: "the past in the present in pentimento". Good work, girl!
Ejmccartin said at 6:15 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: love these! great job.
DEE-Trow said at 6:18 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: What a great combination of pictures and history. So well put together. Nice tabblo!
Pkeener said at 6:34 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: Thank you everybody. I really think it's important to preserve our history, even if it is just some paint on a pile of bricks. I get a kick out of seeing these and glad you enjoy them, too. I wanted to make a more exciting Tabblo to show them off, but, then I thought I would just let the ghosts, (thank you Eudardo!) speak for themselves.
Jerii said at 7:29 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: These are great pictures! Denver is doing a pretty good job of renovating and rejuvenating some of the older industrial areas of the city. The difference in downtown and surrounding areas between the time I first worked there in the 70's and today is phenomenal. We used to hurry home from work to get out of an unsafe place and ugly place. Now we stay down there to do all sorts of fun things. I like this tabblo!
Decoy said at 7:47 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: Nice ghosts! I won't close my eyes though, because I like them! =)
Memotions said at 8:08 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: Pam your subject choices are always thought provoking in the sense that it encurages the viewer to take a really close look. It's not just history, but architechture and even how the psychology of this type of marketing has evolved (if we can call it that...) over the decades. Then there's the whole aspect of exploring just how deep the decay (and the types of decay....) has gone...... this is a real thinker.
Spilly0901 said at 10:19 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: Pam, these are wonderful! I love the oldness of these. Great job!
Abking said at 10:26 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: I love the look and feel of yesterday's ads as they devolve into form, color and texture. Time detaches them from their original function: to nag us into buying something, and now they can just be here now for our visual pleasure. Hey, great tabblo!
Pkeener said at 10:45 p.m. on Sep 24, 2007: great word! Devolve and nancy used pentimento. Allan, i was thinking about you when I made this and wishing i had your great touch...

Leftofcenter said at 7:28 a.m. on Sep 25, 2007: I don't know where I was when you released this tabblo???? it's almost like those ads REFUSE to fade away, they may turn the bldgs into lofts, "we're here to stay"!!! It's the real thing. Coke. Love that one! your talented eye at work again Pamsie!
MHCityPlanner said at 8:49 a.m. on Sep 25, 2007: Great point of view on urban graphics. Must say that I have mixed emotions re: advertising graffitti on architecture, but the passage of time does make us nostalgic for the past. However, they are past of our architectural fabric and should be respected as such. Wonderful job on seeing their fading glory.
Pkeener said at 8:58 a.m. on Sep 25, 2007: Wayne, i think you hit the nail on the head. Seeing these old advertisements, evokes nostalgia.
Bxrgirl27 said at 9:21 a.m. on Sep 25, 2007: This is very cool. Once again - we're on the same wavelength! I've had this same idea - but only had one or two photos and haven't been downtown to caputre more. This is great!!!!!

Ghostbones said at 12:48 p.m. on Sep 30, 2007: Nice job on preserving a little history. I love old buildings and signs such as these, brings back memories of architecture having character, beyond the sterile look of steel and glass.............call me a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
Pkeener said at 1:40 p.m. on Sep 30, 2007: hey jerry! i missed your song references.."imagine" that!
EMA said at 12:47 p.m. on Oct 3, 2007: Great capture of the old buildings. They're full of memories of the past. Nice work Pam!
AliDar said at 1:27 a.m. on Oct 6, 2007: ... Well, if they do happen to fade away at least there are people like you who document them so others in the future can still enjoy them. :-) ... I can't say anything as poetic as a lot of the comments you've received here, but I did enjoying viewing these very much. I too love the old painted brick signage. I just can't believe that these were taken in one cities district! Makes me want to see it for myself sometime. Cool Tabblo Pam!
