space shots

Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics has their online MicroObservatory, aimed at the education community, they let a few guest shots every day.

This is the Orion Nebula.

To do it yourself, go to the website, click through to the guest observatory. Choose which of the preset shots you'd like to see and within a day or two they'll send you a link to your image online. Hopefully you'll have a clear day and won't end up with nice closeups of cloud cover.

This is the Messier Nebula

The coloring is done with the image processing software available at their same site. The best thing about it is each user owns their own images, and therefore, I can post it here.

This is the Irregular Galaxy

And lastly,

Our Moon

these images were all taken September 2007

I just sent off for the telescope to take an image of jupiter, so I might edit that into this tabblo when it arrives. I'm finding this telescope addictive.
