You had to pay the Senso temple to put up your own lantern. Most of these lanterns were sponsored by nearby shops. I must say it was rather strange to see on the temple grounds, next to a statue of Buddha , lanterns advertising comic books for adults , comic book cafes and pachinko parlors ( Pachinko is a cross between a pinball machine and a one armed bandit). |
