La Sagrada Familia Passion Facade

A symbol of the physical torture of Christ.

Christ on the cross.

Longinus, the soldier who put his lance in Christ's side.

Peter denies Christ three times.

The Crucifixion

Soldiers Playing Dice for Jesus' clothes

The Passion Facade sculptures are the work of Josep Maria Subirachs.  He began work in 1987, following the ideas but not the style of Gaudi.

The columns are modeled on sequoia trees and add to the feeling of nudity and desolation.

I've never seen such modern looking sculptures on a church before. ... The sculptures themselves look like sand sculptures. Interesting tabblo!
