LatentE said at 6:30 p.m. on Oct 17, 2007:
I'm reminded how catch phrases (sound bites) are used to manipulate what we think and believe, or at least what we see as acceptable or absurd. One recent phrase is "The constitution is not a suicide pact." It's given as a common folk understanding of the obvious. Yet it's actually a stark repudiation of "Live free or die," a blunt call to fight tyranny during the revolutionary war. Is it any wonder America's democracy is in danger .. from within?
Leftofcenter said at 8:13 p.m. on Oct 17, 2007:
ok waiting for linda and da brownies... oh LatentE's new avatar... interesting...

Cripes this is a powerful tabblo! You've arranged the photos with the lyric snips perfectly! ... and what an odd collections of comments it has gathered. ... There are definitely children in Iraq too, and their fathers and mothers weep just the same when they die. ... I'm not an American, but toss me over a placard too will ya Pam?!
Pkeener said at 9:36 p.m. on Oct 17, 2007:
Hey Dar! Glad to have you on board. thank you. and thank you Sheila.
Peggysuew said at 9:56 p.m. on Oct 17, 2007:
thanks for the reminder pam..its funny how i always think first of nam, not iraq..maybe because of the era we grew up in...its all a crying shame, no matter where the fight is...so please pass the brownies A, so we can try to numb the pain and sorrow and horror of war...this is one of my faves..love how you capture it all, especially with our man dylan singing along :)

Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can ... no need for greed or hunger, a sisterhood of man ... I'd say that you're a dreamer, but you're [obviously] not the only one ... perhaps we join together, and the world will live as one. Apologies to JL, thanks to Pam.

Amy, great peek into the thoughts and ideals of so many... The messages are more than words, the work and effort to place them in such ways demonstrates the passion of the speakers... Great captures... I am in the US Military and have been serving for 28 years so that others can do this very thing. I've been all over Iraq, Afghanistan, and other war areas and the messages of those we defend are said with the same level of passion... how i wish their voices were heard in the ears of those who make passionate messages in this country... what a different meaning we would hear. Kelly
Pkeener said at 9:03 a.m. on Jun 1, 2008:
Kelly, I would love to hear their stories. I am not anti military. I am an army brat. My dad was a Lt Colonel in the army for 20 years. I have many friends who were affected by Viet Nam, some close to me that have passed on, much too early, from the post war debilitations. I was trying to make a political statement, especially about our current state of affairs. I really appreciate your comment! PS Amy is my daughter. She took the photo of the post 911 graffiti.
